(Eagle News)– President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday night revealed how former Commission on Higher Education chair Patricia Licuanan came to resign, saying he threatened to file charges against her if she did not make the move.
“Sabi ko kay Bong (Go), ‘Tawagan mo. Sabihin mo kay (Executive Secretary Salvador) Medialdea. Either she steps down or I will file a case against her. Mamili siya,’” Duterte said at an event attended by local executives from Visayas and Mindanao.
Licuanan resigned on Jan. 15 after receiving a call from Medialdea.
Duterte has accused Licuanan of going on excessive foreign trips, and of delaying the release of allowance and subsidies for CHED scholars.
Licuanan has denied the allegations.
