Duterte says he was not aware of China’s “harassment” in Ayungin Shoal

(Eagle News)~President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday, June 5, said he was not aware of the purported harassment of Filipino soldiers by the Chinese in Ayungin Shoal.

Speaking upon his arrival from his three-day visit to South Korea, Duterte said when asked by a reporter that it was “the first time I’ve heard of it.”

“It would be dangerous for me to answer questions without really having the slightest idea of what it is all about,” he said.

Earlier, the Associated Press reported that Duterte had been displeased upon hearing about the development.

Ayungin Shoal is  located 105 nautical miles from Palawan and is found within the Philippines exclusive economic zone.
