(Eagle News)—President Rodrigo Duterte has signed a law that allows qualified individuals to have access to free technical-vocational education.
Under Republic Act 11230 or the Tulong-Trabaho Act signed by the President on Feb. 22, a fund shall be set up to allow for the full payment of selected program training fees and transportation and laboratory fees.
Under the law authored by Senator Joel Villanueva, qualified individuals include any person at least 15 years old, who is not in school, not in training and unemployed; and employed workers who want to develop their skills and training.
Excluded as beneficiaries are workers who are currently being trained by their employers.
The fund will be administered by the Technical Education Skills Development Authority.
