(Eagle News)—-President Rodrigo Duterte has signed the proposed Bangsamoro Organic Law.
The President made the announcement in a speech on Thursday, July 26.
“Nur, if you are my brother, Nur, if you are listening, I would like to thank you for just narerendahan mo ‘yung pwersa mo. Let us talk because we are old. Fighting is no longer an option for you and for me. Usap na lang tayo,” the President said, referring to the leader of the Moro National Liberation Front.
The signing into law of the BOL comes after the Senate ratified it on Monday, July 23, prior to President Duterte’s State of the Nation Address.
its ratification by the House of Representatives however was delayed due to a leadership issue.
In his SoNA, Duterte said he would sign the measure into law within 48 hours upon receipt of the same.
The BOL grants a Bangsamoro entity 55 powers, and is believed to be the solution to the problems besetting Mindanao.
