MAY 27 (Reuters) — Action star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson certainly proved again that he knows how to make an entrance as he arrived at the Hollywood premiere, on Tuesday (May 26) of his latest film – the summer disaster flick “San Andreas” – on the back of a fire truck followed overhead by a rescue helicopter
The 43-year-old actor, who’s coming off the mega-box office success of “Furious 7,” of the “Fast and Furious” franchise, has become one of Hollywood’s most bankable stars.
In “San Andreas,” Johnson’s character is a Los Angeles Fire Department helicopter pilot trying to rescue his wife, who is in the process of divorcing him, and his daughter, with whom he has an estranged relationship.
After the infamous San Andreas Fault gives, triggering a magnitude 9-plus earthquake in California, Johnson’s character and his estranged wife make their way together from Los Angeles to San Francisco to save their only daughter. But their treacherous journey north is only the beginning.
“When you see the movie and fans have been responding to it and especially those who know Los Angeles and all the iconic buildings we have in Los Angeles and San Francisco too. You look at them in a different way,” said Johnson, when asked how the movie has changed him. “You watch them with the impact of the earthquake, you look at them differently.”
Directed by Brad Peyton, the film also stars Carla Gugino and Alexandra Daddario.
“San Andreas” is released in the UK and U.S. on May 29.
