The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the El Niño affecting the country would continue to upset planting schedules in central and southern Philippines until the first half of 2016.
PAGASA said the country will experience warmer than normal air temperature as a result.
The country is also projected to have below normal rainfall, possibly leading to dry spell and drought conditions in most part of the country until the first quarter of 2016.
He said, only 2 to 6 tropical cyclones are expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) from January to June, but they’re expected to be stronger storms.
As of December 7 last year, the provinces affected by dry spell include Laguna, Mindoro Occidental and Oriental, Albay, Aklan, Antique, Guimaras and North Cotabato. Meanwhile, Quezon, Camarines Norte, Northern Samar and Samar (Western Samar) provinces experienced drought conditions.
