(Eagle News) — Senator Chiz Escudero said he was humbled by President Rodrigo Duterte’s statement he would only step down if the likes of the lawmaker would succeed him.
But Escudero said Duterte himself noted that “wala namang legal na paraan para mangyari ito.”
Responding to the question if he would accept the position should it be offered to him, Escudero said, “walang hypothetical (scenario) dahil hindi naman para sa kanyang ibigay ‘yun.”
The President in a speech on Tuesday said he would only step down if the likes of apart from Escudero, Bongbong Marcos, would succeed him.
On the prospect of Vice President Leni Robredo succeeding him, he said: “Hindi niya kaya.”
