(Eagle News) — Slain Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa had named former Justice Secretary and now senator Leila de Lima in his final affidavit taken by policemen in August, saying she and his son Kerwin met in Baguio City sometime in March 2016 to talk about the illegal drug trade.

This was contained in his six-page affidavit that Albuera policemen took in August. He named De Lima several government officials and members of the media as being protectors of the illegal drug activity of his son “Kerwin” in Eastern Visayas.
Espinosa, in his affidavit, said he personally saw his son and De Lima talking about illegal drugs in Baguio City in March this year.

Members of the media gained access to his affidavit after the mayor was killed in an alleged shootout inside his jail cell with the operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).

“Aside from the fact that my son Kerwin told me about it, I personally witnessed my son and (then Justice) Secretary De Lima met and talked regarding Kerwin’s illegal drug trade in Baguio City sometime in March 2016,” Espinosa said.
Kerwin’s common law wife, Hazel Mago, was also reportedly present during the supposed meeting.

Espinosa said he even had a photo of the meeting between De Lima and Kerwin when they met.

He named around 50 personalities as protectors of the illegal drug trade in Eastern Visayas in his six-page affdaivit.

Espinosa was supposed to be a vital witness against the 226 persons he had named earlier in his affidavit. There were 19 politicians, four members of the judiciary, 38 policemen, seven from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), one from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, three from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, one from the Army, and three from the media whom he had named in his previous affidavits.

Senator De Lima has tagged as another “invention” the speculations that she may have had something to do with the Espinosa killing.
