(Eagle News) — The former Bureau of Corrections official who said he delivered millions in drug money to Senator Leila de Lima when she was justice secretary surrendered to authorities on Sunday.

The National Bureau of Investigation said Rafael Ragos, who is the subject of a warrant of arrest issued by Branch 204 of the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court, arrived at their headquarters in Manila before noon.

Ragos is a co-accused of De Lima and her alleged bagman Ronnie Dayan in the case that stems from their alleged involvement in the drug trade in the New Bilibid Prison when she was at the helm of the justice department.

Last year, Ragos admitted in a House of Representatives inquiry that he delivered P10 million to De Lima and Dayan in separate instances.

The 10 million includes the P5 million he said he personally delivered to Dayan in the senator’s residence in 2012.

Ragos had said he saw Dayan hand over the bag containing the money to De Lima.

De Lima, who  is facing two other drug cases in Branches 205 and 206, is now detained at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center.

Dayan is detained at the Muntinlupa Police following his arrest days ago.
