(Eagle News)– Former Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) official Lt. Col. Ferdinand Marcelino surrendered to Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) personnel Tuesday (January 3) afternoon.

“Yes, he has already voluntarily surrendered sa office ng Provost Marshal General AFP. He is accompanied by his sister and that appearance happened around 12 noon today,” AFP public affairs office chief Col. Edgard Arevalo said.

Arevalo said they are now processing Marcelino’s papers and will  ask the court for his custody.

“We are currently processing ‘yung lahat ng necessary requirements — fingerprinting mugshots, at physical examination. And then we are filing a petition for custody sa kanya before the courts para nasa atin muna sa AFP ang kanyang custody,” he added.

Marcelino will be detained at the AFP Custodial Center.

In December, Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 49  has found probable cause against Marcelino and Chinese national Yan Yi Shou, and issued an arrest warrant against them.

Marcelino and Shou were arrested in January 2015 inside a house in Sta. Cruz, Manila that turned out to be a shabu laboratory.

At least 77 kilograms of shabu were seized from the two.

In May, the Department of Justice (DOJ) cleared the two of criminal liabilities.

However, the DOJ reversed itself in September after the Philippine National Police (PNP) made an appeal.
