AUGUST 5 (CCTV) — As international experts are to analyze a piece of Boeing-777 washed up on the shores of the Reunion Island last week that is likely to be part of the missing Malaysian Airlines Flight MH370, some others are warning that solving the mystery of MH370 will be quite challenging.
When the wing fragment washed up on the shore of the Reunion Island last week, it raised hopes that the mystery of MH370 may be close to being solved.
Under police escort, the piece of debris was transferred to a military laboratory in southern France, where experts on Wednesday will seek to establish whether it is part of MH370, and, if so, will look for clues to what happened.
The laboratory near Toulouse had investigated the 2009 Air France Airbus A330 disaster which killed 228 people when it crashed into the Atlantic en route from Rio de Janeiro to Paris.
Hundreds of pieces of wreckage were analyzed, but investigators didn’t have all the answers until the black box was found almost two years after the crash.
Aviation expert Pascal Roches said he believes that the analysis of MH370 will be much more challenging than that of Air France Airbus.
“We have very very little information on the route it took for at least one hour. For example, for the Rio-Paris flight, we had a period of uncertainly of 10 minutes and it took us two years to find the black boxes. So I think it’s going to be complicated (for the analysis of MH370),” said Roches.
The expert also added that the search area for MH370 could be limited a little more if the found element is actually from the plane.
The verification of the wing part could happen pretty quickly on Wednesday, and experts will then attempt to better understand the cause of the crash and where the plane went down – a process that will be considerably more complicated.
