Social media giant Facebook announced on Wednesday (November 18) a new tool to improve the donate feature for non-profit organizations raising money through their Facebook pages.
The new donate button allows users to donate to a charity or nonprofit without leaving their Facebook news feed. The tool also allows nonprofits to create individual pages for specific campaigns.
The new pages will allow nonprofits to share a campaign story and visibly track donation progress towards a goal for special projects or year-end drives.
The donate button will now be present in pages, posts and shares. When a user shares his or her donation on their Facebook news feed, their share post will also feature a donate button allowing friends to donate directly through the share post.
The Fundraisers feature is currently being tested with 37 partner organizations, including National Multiple Sclerosis Society and World Wildlife Fund and Mercy Corps, which is currently trying to raise 15,000 dollars for their
Syrian Refugee Crisis Response fundraiser. Facebook hopes to make the tool available to other U.S. based 501c3 nonprofits. (Reuters)
