QUEZON City, Philippines (Eagle News) — Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon may still face charges in connection with the Php 6.4 billion worth of shabu that entered the country.
“Nobody is safe, even me,” Dominguez said on Wednesday, August 2.
President Rodrigo Duterte said that he will respect the outcome of the investigation of Congress in the issues involving Faeldon, a sentiment repeated by Faeldon’s superior, Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez.
“We will wait for the results of the investigation of the legislature. We must respect them,” Dominguez said, pertaining to the lawmakers’ probe.
“It is better to do this in sequence, so we are going to start (after Congress’ investigation),” he added.
The President during the 113th anniversary rites of the Bureau of Internal Revenue in Quezon City said that he would wait for the final report of the congressional investigation on the illegal drugs shipment that passed through the Bureau of Customs.
If corruption involving Faeldon is uncovered, then he said he would have to let go of the BOC chief.
“If there is corruption, wala na tayong magagawa (we can no longer do anything),” the President said.
“I want the report, final. Then I will review it and I will be fair,” Duterte said.
