Faeldon says he will “definitely” go to Senate on Monday but only “to turn (himself) in”

(Eagle News) — Former Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon will “definitely” go to the Senate on Monday, but will not attend the Senate blue ribbon committee hearing slated on that day.

“Hindi ako aattend (sa hearing). Pwede nila ako buhatin..I will submit myself to them para ikulong nalang nila ako,” he said.

Faeldon, however, was not  arrested, even as Senate blue ribbon committee chair Richard Gordon said this would be the case if the former Customs commissioner did not commit to attend.

At present, the  team deployed outside a house of Faeldon’s brother in Rizal has already pulled out.

According to Faeldon, he would only answer questions before a “competent court,” when a case has been filed against him, but not before the two houses of Congress.

“Ito ay isang paglilinaw sa interes ng mga mambabatas pag magdedeliver sila ng privilege speech at habang nililitis nila ang resource person against sa karapatan nila na enshrined sa Constitution. Nawawala ang guaranteed rights ng ating mamamayan,” he said.

He said until all this was “clear,  for as  long as they want me jailed, I will remain in jail.”

Faeldon noted that  his move was not an act of defiance, as he “respects the institution.”
