“Felix Manalo”, the stellar biopic film, recently took the spotlight by officially breaking 2 Guinness World records (record for the largest audience for a movie screening and largest audience at a film premiere). It is further making history, as it earned 50 million pesos on its first night outshining all blockbuster films in the country when it comes to first day sales.
Viva Films, the producer of the film proclaimed this feat as the film gets the title of the “all-time highest grossing, non-holiday opening” for a local film.
After its massive reception on the movie’s premiere night at the Philippine Arena, “Felix Manalo” has been crowding every cinema in every mall nationwide, usually literally taking most, if not all theaters in malls.
Movie goers, INC members or not, have been rushing to cinemas every day since the premiere prompting theaters to take almost all slot in the malls. It even had later than the usual last screening, aside from the early opening time, to accommodate the viewers.
Some malls that usually opened at 10:00 am decided to open as early as 8:00am. The malled also offered later than usual late night screenings (11:30 pm) in selected SM cinemas.
According to an article online, the biopic film outdid the historical film “Heneral Luna” that had earlier stirred the social media, as “Felix Manalo” earned 50 million in a day, which was more than thrice the earnings (15 million pesos) of “Heneral Luna” on its first week.
