Fil-Am Hollywood Journalists Honored at Los Angeles Press Club
Quezon City, Philippines, (June 28, 2016). The Only Two Filipino Members of Hollywood Foreign Press Association, Janet R. Nepales and Ruben V Nepales were honored June 26 in the 58th Annual Southern California Journalism Awards at Millenmium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles, California.
The prestigious event presented by Los Angeles Press Club and received 1,011 entries from different publications including Los Angeles Times, The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, and major television, radio, and websites.
Ruben V. Nepales took second place for his article “Woody Allen Hopes to Direct Till He’s 100”, published by Philippine Daily Inquirer. Ruben was also nominated for columnist or critic and entertainment feature via online.
Janet R. Nepales snag second place for her article published by Manila Bulletin on Leonardo DiCarpio “Leo on His Parents, Tough Challenges in Doing ‘Reverant’.” she was nominated as well in the news/feature.
According to Ruben, “Domestic peace in the Nepales household is maintained…until the next journalism awards competition. 😉
Thank you, 58th Annual Southern California Journalism Awards, for maintaining the peace in our home via the equal recognition”.
Both of them are inspirations to many including myself, from the last interview with Janet, her advice was “You have gone far in little time and we are so proud of you”.
