(Eagle News) – Aspirants to barangay and SK posts can start filing their certificates of candidacy (CoC) on Saturday, April 14 .
The filing of CoCs will last until April 20, Friday, according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
Candidates in the May barangay and SK elections should meet the following requirements:
- is of Filipino citizenship
- is a resident in the barangay where he or she is running at least 1 year on the day of election
- Can read and write in Filipino, English, and local dialect
- For SK posts, is at least 18-24 years old on the day of election
- Has no blood or marriage relationship within the second civil degree with incumbent officials, in accordance with the provisions of the anti-dynasty law;
- Has no conviction of moral turpitude charges
Candidates may be required to submit a resume, if the Comelec approves the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s proposal for the same.
Authorities have expressed confidence the May 14 elections will finally push through after they were postponed twice.
