Celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck and the creative team behind the annual Governors Ball unveiled menu items, floral arrangements and signature cocktails on Wednesday (February 4).
This year’s menu for the official Oscar after party features some signature items, such as Puck’s chicken pot pie with black truffles and smoked salmon Oscar but also features new items to help accommodate all attending guests.
“When we decide on the menu we always try to make a good balance between traditional, comfort food and also something more modern and exciting and we take into account that there are a lot of vegans, vegetarians and so we always have little exciting bites also,” said the 65-year old Austrian chef.
The 1,500 attending guests will also enjoy signature cocktails and specialty wines crafted just for Oscar’s big night. Napa based Sterling Vineyards created two custom wines for the event, the Limited Edition Gold Standard Reserve White and the Limited Edition Red Carpet Reserve Red. The custom wines take between six and eight months to be made.
“We want to make sure that we don’t run out of anything, that everybody can try their favorite and that everybody can actually taste, in addition to our red carpet reserve and our gold standard reserve, they can taste our pinot noir, the sauvignon blanc, the chardonnay. So we supply about 600 bottles each of our two, unique cuvee and about 250 bottles of our other varietals,” said Alison Rodriguez, a winemaker with Sterling Vineyards.

The 87th Academy Awards are scheduled to take place on Sunday February 22 with the Governors Ball starting immediately after the show’s conclusion.
