(Eagle News) — More residents of Bacoor, Cavite–which initially reported two Delta variant cases–have tested positive for COVID-19.
According to Bacoor Mayor Lani Mercado, at least 28 residents of two subdivisions are COVID-19-positive.
Mercado said of the 124 contacts traced to the Delta variant cases, 27 tested positive for the virus.
At least one tested positive for COVID-19 in El Grande of the 26 contacts identified.
According to Mercado, so far, there was a surge in COVID-19 cases in the city.
On Wednesday, she said the city registered 61 new COVID-19 cases.
On Thursday, she said this increased to 92.
The city would register an average of 30 daily COVID-19 cases before.
Earlier, Mercado said at least eight members of the household of a Delta variant carrier in the city had tested positive for COVID-19.
The Department of Health has confirmed the local transmission of the highly-transmissible Delta variant in the country.
On Friday, the Palace announced Metro Manila would revert to an enhanced community quarantine from Aug. 6 to 20.
