(Eagle News)–Manila International Airport Authority general manager Ed Monreal has proposed the deployment of queuing officers at all screening points in all terminals of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
MIAA said Monreal gave the advice to the Office of Transportation Security after the Civil Service Commission’s Aileen Lizada complained to the media when she saw “four or five” Chinese nationals who skipped lines at the pre-departure area of NAIA’s Terminal 3 by going under cordons intended for order.
MIAA clarified that there was no breach in security screening procedure because the Chinese nationals were screened, as acknowledged by Lizada herself.
According to the airport authority, nevertheless, Monreal’s advice was an additional measure to allay such concerns.
It added CCTV footage covering all angles of the incident will be shared as requested by Lizada, who has brought the matter to the attention of the OTS based on initial CCTV copies seen by Monreal.
“While the MIAA welcomes public notice, we will appreciate if such reports be validated and verified first before being blasted to the media, so as to avoid confusion and undue sentiments from the public,” MIAA said.
“As public servants, our ultimate concern is to serve the Filipino people through efficient provision of government services. We are, after all, under one government with a singular goal of bettering the lives of our countrymen,” the airport authority added.
