QUEZON City, Philippines (Eagle News) — It seems people in the Philippines consider themselves happier this year compared to the previous year.
This is according to the 2017 World Happiness Report of the United Nations released in time for International Day of Happiness, March 20.
Based on the study, the Philippines ranked 72nd in the happiest countries in the world, a ten-point improvement from its 82nd place last year. Norway topped the list.
Also in the top five are Denmark, Iceland, Switzerland and Finland.
“Norway has jumped from 4th place in 2016 to 1st place this year, followed by Denmark, Iceland and Switzerland in a tightly packed bunch. All of the top four countries rank highly on all the main factors found to support happiness: caring, freedom, generosity, honesty, health, income and good governance,” the report said.
Central African Republic was at the bottom, at 155th place.
Among the Asian countries, Singapore was at the 26th spot thus topping other countries in Asia, with Thailand close behind at the 32nd spot.
