‘Glenda’ cuts power in Central Luzon

Most parts of Central Luzon are now experiencing electric power interruption due to strong winds caused by typhoon Glenda.

The whole province of Bataan has no electricity as the 69kv breakers and two feeders tripped off due to strong winds.

Loreto Marcelino, general manager of the Peninsula Electric Cooperative (Panelco), said they will immediately fix the situation to restore power supply.

The electric power supply was also cut off in Malolos City and some parts of Meycauayan City and in the towns of Plaridel and Calumpit in Bulacan.

Likewise, power interruption also hit the service areas of Pampanga Electric Cooperative-3 (Pelco-3).

Ernest Lorenz B. Vidal, Central Luzon corporate communications and public affairs officer of the National Grip Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said the power outage was due to the trip off of the Mexico-PIMU 60kv line which tripped at 3:44 a.m. Wednesday.

Power interruption also hit the provinces of Nueva Ecija and Aurora.

Vidal said the NGCP is working to restore power transmission services to Nueva Ecija Electric Cooperative-II (NEECO II) Area 1 and Area 2, and Aurora Electric Cooperative (AURELCO).

Reports indicate that the Cabanatuan-Baler 69kV line tripped at 8:09 a.m. Wednesday
