(Eagle News)– Former President and now Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on Monday (September 5) reiterated that President Rodrigo Duterte’s issuance of state of lawlessness is “the right thing to do”, following the Davao City blast that claimed 14 lives.
Currently serving as Deputy Speaker in the House of Representatives, Arroyo recalled the time when she issued the same order when she was president.
“Ginagawa ko yun nung panahon ko eh, so it’s the right thing to do,” Arroyo said.
“The threat is national so it’s just right that we should trust the President,” she added.
It was in 2003 when then-President Arroyo declared “state of lawless violence” following a blast also in Davao City, but its scope was limited to the city only.
Arroyo justified Duterte’s actions and his ability to handle crisis since he served as her adviser on peace and order.
“When I used to have those problems in Mindanao, I would ask Mayor Duterte to handle it for me. He handled it very well under me so I know he’ll handle it just as well, if not even better than myself,” she recalled.
According to Arroyo, Duterte already knows what to do already.
“President Duterte knows all the lessons already. He was helping me all the time when he was my adviser. He knows my experience, he knows all the lessons.”
