LAS VEGAS, Nevada (Reuters) — Undefeated middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin and Mexico’s Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez arrived in Las Vegas on Tuesday (September 12) to be presented to fans before their middleweight showdown.
The Kazakhstani and his Mexican challenger will fight on September 16 in Las Vegas.
The 35-year-old Golovkin has made 18 consecutive world middleweight title defenses, while his 26-year-old opponent has won world titles in two divisions during a 51-fight career.
Alvarez’s sole defeat came against Floyd Mayweather in 2013.
