Reuters — “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” took over the North American weekend box office crown from Friday (May 05) through Sunday (May 07). The film, the second in the franchise headlined by Chris Pratt, reunites the Marvel characters as they struggle to keep their newfound family together. The film took-in over $145-million dollars for its debut weekend, according to BoxOfficeMojo.
Holding over from previous weeks, “The Fate of the Furious” saw another $8.5-million added to its global haul of 1.1 billion dollars; “The Boss Baby” took in an additional $6.1-million for third place; and “How to Be a Latin Lover” and “Beauty and the Beast” wrapped up the top 5 with $5.2-million and $4.9-million respectively.
