A suspect in the killing of a police officer in Antipolo City has been arrested.
Philippine National Police chief Dir. Gen. Oscar Albayalde made the announcement about the apprehension of Crispin Corpin on Wednesday, May 23.
Corpin is one of several suspects in the killing of Po3 Don Carlo Mangui, who was attacked in front of his family’s house on Chico St. in Barangay dela Paz on Sunday, May 20.
Police have launched manhunt operations against Archie Casas alias Jovan and Alvin Dolim, other suspects in the incident that also saw two other people injured.
According to Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar, police regional director in the Calabarzon area, Corpin was a known hitman who was facing separate homicide and trespassing charges.
“Itong nahuli, labas pasok sa kulungan,” Eleazar said.
Eleazar said it was possible Mangui was killed because he was believed to be the one who tipped off policemen about the illegal drug operations in the area that resulted in a Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency operation.
The operation led to the arrest of 82 people.
Corpin is facing criminal charges.
