(Eagle News) — The rumored plot to oust Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez was “very briefly touched” on during the all-member caucus of the House of Representatives on Monday, July 23.
Deputy Speaker Gwen Garcia, who attended the caucus held to discuss the Bangsamoro Organic Law, did not, however, confirm if the move to replace Alvarez was to push through.
She only said that if there was indeed such a move, “I’m sure may mag-oobject..”
“I think it is always a question of whether or not things are going well in the House. And we are of one mind. This has really been the most productive Congress yet, and we have to attribute to the leadership..It’s all about each congressman’s take on how the present Congress is being led,” she said.
The Lower Chamber is slated to ratify the Bangsamoro Organic Law, which the Senate earlier ratified.
President Rodrigo Duterte is slated to sign the measure into law before his State of the Nation Address later in the afternoon.
