(Eagle News) — Reports are coming in that Abu Sayyaf leader and reported Islamist State emir in Southeast Asia, Isnilon Hapilon, had been killed this morning, October 16, but the military said that it has yet to confirm these.
CNN Philippines cited military sources to say that Hapilon is now dead, and even showed a supposed bloodied face of the dead Islamist militant leader.
Eagle News also received a photo of the supposed dead Hapilon from sources.
The reports also said that Omar Maute, one of the Maute brothers leading the Maute group fighting in Marawi City, had also been killed
Armed Forces of the Philippines spokesperson, Brig. Gen. Restituto Padilla said that they have not yet released any official statement on the matter.
“Bagamat magandang balita ito, wala pa po kaming kumpirmasyon. Makakaasa kayo na oras may pinal na tayong salita galing sa baba na kinukumpirma ang mga pangyayaring ito, tsaka pa lang po namin ilalabas ang aming official statement,” Padilla said in a television interview.
