Offers them financial, housing, and livelihood assistance
(Eagle News) – President Rodrigo Duterte once again called on New People’s Army rebels to surrender to government, and offered them financial, housing and livelihood assistance.
“I am addressing again to all of you NPAs, you will never even capture a barangay. Stop your dreams, sumurrender kayo,” he said in his speech during the establishment of ‘TienDA Para Sa Mga Bayani’, a farmer and fisherfolk outlet in partnership with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), at Camp General Adriano Hernandez in Dingle, Iloilo on Thursday, February 22.
According to Duterte, the government would take care of the rebel-returnees.
For instance, he said there were 1000 housing units allotted for the rebel-returnees in Davao.
“Ang agriculture, na kung hindi lang kayo maggulo gulo diyan, madistribute natin maski yong mga forestal area natin, pabuksan ko iyan basta kayo farmers. Tapos suportahan ko iyan,” he added.
For livelihood, he said the rebel-returnees could enroll in the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority and “learn the skills.”
He said rebel-returnees would also get the chance to travel.
The second batch of rebel-returnees, he said, would be sent to Hong Kong, China so they could have a better understanding of how these progressed by embracing capitalism.
“Eto oh, komunista man ito, o tan-awa, tingnan mo, sa Hong Kong, aabot kaya tayo ng ganito kung kayo ang nasa gobyerno? Papaloko kayo ni Sison, you teach the dogma of Sison like god,” he said.
“Tingnan mo ang nagsurrender sa Davao, for 17 years ang mag-asawa…iniwan nila yong bata nagbalik sila 17 years old na…tapos makinig lang kayo…. (kay) Sison na walang utak. Ginagawa ninyong diyos. Magpakamatay kayo, pinapatay ninyo kapwa ninyo,” he added.
