Heavy traffic in parts of metro expected today; MMDA issues traffic advisory

(Eagle News) — Heavy traffic is expected in several parts of Metro Manila today as rallyists gear up to take to the streets in time for President Rodrigo Duterte’s State of the Nation Address.

As early as 8 a.m., rallyists gathered on Elliptical Road before going to Commonwealth Ave. in Quezon City, where they are expected to call for Duterte to keep his so-called broken promises.

Protesters also gathered in the University of the Philippines-Diliman campus early Monday.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority has issued an advisory to motorists in Quezon City, where some roads will be closed.

Those using the westbound lanes of  Commonwealth Avenue should turn right at Fairlane, right at Dalia, then left at Chestnut.

They should then go straight to Sauyo Road, and then to Mindanao Avenue to get to their destination.

 From SM Fairview/ Robinsons, motorists should take Quirino Highway, and then access Mindanao Avenue to get to their destination.

From Fairview/Mindanao Avenue,  motorists should turn right at Jordan Plains, then go straight to Quirino Highway, and then to Mindanao Avenue to get to their destination.

Rallies are also expected in other parts of the country.

Over 6000 policemen have been deployed to guard the vicinity of Batasang Pambansa, where Duterte is expected to hold his SONA.
