Hong Kong stocks end sharply lower

HONG KONG, China (AFP) — Hong Kong stocks fell on Tuesday with traders spooked by plunging oil prices and a brewing political crisis in Italy, as they also look ahead to the release of key US jobs data later in the week.

The Hang Seng Index sank 1.00 percent, or 307.68 points, to 30,484.58.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index gave up 0.47 percent, or 14.62 points, to 3,120.46 and the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, slipped 1.07 percent, or 19.37 points, to 1,786.71.
