(Eagle News) — The House of Representatives on Tuesday, Aug. 28, approved on second reading a measure seeking to increase the paid maternity leaves of workers in the private and public sectors to 100.
House Bill 4113 was approved via viva voce voting.
It needs to be approved on third reading before it is subjected to scrutiny in a bicameral conference committee.
Last year, the Senate approved Senate Bill 1305 that aims to provide female workers 120-day maternity leave, and the option to extend the same to another 30 days without pay.
At present, female workers have 60 days of paid maternity leave.
