JULY 6 (Eagle News) — Two consecutive earthquakes shook parts of Ilocos Norte on Sunday (July 5) night.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), a 5.0 magnitude earthquake was recorded and struck the town of Batac at 8:56 PM with a depth of 40 kilometers.
Intensity four was felt in Vigan, Santa and Paoay Ilocos Norte, while, intensity 3 struck the provinces of Sarrat, Ilocos Norte, Baguio City, Abra City, Ballesteros and Cagayan. Intesity 2 was felt in Tuguegarao, Appari and Apayao City. Meanwhile, intensity 1 was recorded in Dagupan City.
On the other hand, a 4.3 magnitude of earthquake was also felt in the Municipality of Marcos at 9:12 in the evening.
It was also recorded that the quake was a tectonic in nature, with a depth of 22 kilometers.
