Ilocos province to experience 9-hour power outage on May 30

LAOAG CITY, May 28 (PIA) – The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) set a nine-hour power interruption in Ilocos Norte and some parts of Ilocos Sur on Friday, May 30.

NGCP North Luzon Public Affairs Officer Lilibeth P. Gaydowen said the power outage, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., is part of the annual preventive maintenance and testing of 100MVA power transformer at the San Esteban substation in Ilocos Sur.

“The power interruption will affect the distribution utilities of Ilocos Norte Electric Cooperative (INEC) and parts of Ilocos Sur Electric Cooperative (ISECO) servicing the whole province of Ilocos Norte and the towns of Bantay, Sta. Catalina, San Vicente, Caoayan, San Ildefonso, Sto. Domingo, Magsingal, San Juan, Cabugao and Sinait; and Vigan City; all in the 1st district of Ilocos Sur,” Gaydowen said.

At the same time, the NGCP technicians will also conduct maintenance of the transmission lines along the San Esteban-Laoag 115kV lines and the commissioning of new equipment at San Esteban Sub – station in Ilocos Sur. (Philippine Information Agency)
