MANILA, Philippines (Eagle News) — The Bureau of Immigration said it will strictly implement the total ban on the deployment of Overseas Filipino Workers to Kuwait, and would look out for those who would attempt to go to the Middle Eastern country to work, in all the international airports and seaports nationwide.
“All immigration officers have been directed to prevent the departure of all OFWs bound for Kuwait,” BI port operations division chief Marc Red Mariñas said.
Also covered by the ban are the returning OFWs to Kuwait or the “balik manggagawa.”
He then encouraged the public to report any immigration personnel who will be involved in the notorious “escort racket” at the airport.
“We shall implement this deployment ban to the letter and immigration personnel who connive with the escort syndicates will be dealt with severely,” Morente warned.
He said anyone who engages in such “will be suspended and eventually dismissed from the service for gross misconduct.”
