(Eagle News) — The Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) started its “Lingap sa Mamamayan” (Aid to Humanity) to help people affected by the successive quakes that hit several areas in Mindanao.
In these photos taken by Eagle News Service correspondents in Mindanao, it shows the INC Lingap sa Mamamayan activities in full swing on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019, in the areas severely affected by the series of Mindanao quakes.
Thousands of goodwill bags were distributed to people, while more goodwill bags are being prepared for distribution to other quake-affected areas.
On Saturday, the INC “Lingap sa Mamamayan” distributed goodwill bags in Magsaysay, Davao del Sur, and Makilala town in North Cotabato.

The INC Lingap sa Mamamayan in Mindanao is being done through the FYM Foundation, the charitable arm of the INC.
Under the administration of INC Executive Minister Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, the Church has been regularly conducting Lingap sa Mamamayan (Aid to Humanity) activities to help those in need in the Philippines and around the world.
The strong quakes in Mindanao started on Oct. 16 with a magnitude 6.3 quake that struck Tulunan, Cotabato. On Oct. 29, a magnitude 6.6 quake again rocked Mindanao, with the epicenter located southeast of Tulunan, Cotabato. This was followed by hundreds of aftershocks. Two days later, on Thursday, Oct. 31, another quake with a magnitude of 6.5 hit Tulunan, Cotabato again, this time with the epicenter located on its northeast side.
On Friday morning, Nov. 1, another 5.5 magnitude quake hit waters off Sarangani, Davao Occidental, with the epicenter located 334 kilometers located southeast of Sarangani town. Later in the afternoon, another strong quake with a magnitude of 5.0 hit 18 kilometers southeast of Makilala, North Cotabato at 2:07 p.m.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology(PHIVOLCS) said that the tremors in Mindanao could continue for weeks.
