INC members join Worldwide Walk to Fight Poverty in Athens, Greece

(Eagle News)— In Greece, the cradle of Western civilization, Iglesia Ni Cristo members, both young and old, participated in the “Worldwide Walk to Fight Poverty” on Sunday, May 6.

The event was held in Pikioni Square (Children’s Square) where most embassies are located in Athens, Greece.

The 1.6 kilometer walk to help poor communities in Africa attracted the attention even of the locals in the area.

Independent witnesses invited to the occasion also expressed admiration for the charity walk.

Luz Taa, a principal of the Philippine School in Greece, said she was “impressed with the Iglesia Ni Cristo” as they “are well-organized.”

“I loved it. I enjoyed this activity,” she said.

Elmina Buado, a teacher of the Philippine School in Greece also noted how the INC was able to achieve its purpose to create awareness about poverty because of its global charity walk.

“I salute the Iglesia Ni Cristo for doing this activity. I think that they have achieved their goal really well,” she said.

Some citizens of the African nations of Ghana and Sierra Leone also appreciated the INC charity walk that aims to help poor communities in Africa, saying it was a “fantastic” event.

The charity walk in Greece of the Church Of Christ was just one of the more than 300 sites across 18 time zones that participated in the event.
