BEIJING, China (CCTV) — China on Monday once again urged India to pull back its border troops to its own side of the border, said a Chinese foreign ministry spokesman in Beijing.
Spokesman Geng Shuang reiterated the demand in response to quoted Indian media reports that the Indian border troops would stay on the Chinese side of the border for prolonged standoff.
The spokesman said if the media reports were true to facts, they could help prove the border trespassing by Indian troops was premeditated and organized by the Indian side to break off the situation along the Sikkim section of the China-India border.
“India is preparing for a protracted war on the border area. How can a diplomatic solution be possible under such circumstances? As we have repeatedly stressed, we urge India to immediately withdraw its border troops back to the Indian side of the China-India border. This is the precondition and foundation for any contact or dialogue with genuine significance,” said Geng.
The Chinese foreign ministry spokesman added that diplomatic channels between the two countries are indeed open, but the Chinese side hopes the Indian side could take genuine steps with genuine efforts.
“So far, India has been violating the basic norm of international relations and international order and breaking regional peace and stability along the China-India boundary. We urge India to immediately withdraw its troops to its own side of the border,” said Geng.
