The Disney-Pixar’s animated comedy with the voices of Amy Poehler, Mindy Kaling and Bill Hader brought in an estimated $45.3 million in the U.S. over the five days, according to reports. The strong weekend showing gives it $246.2 million stateside in its third week at 4,158 locations.
The fourth weekend of Universal’s “Jurassic World” showed that dinosaurs have staying power. The Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard film took in $43.8 million at 3,737 screens and now ranks as the fourth highest domestic grosser of all time with $568.2 million.
Estimates show that “Jurassic World” beat out “Inside Out” with $30.9 million to $30.1 million from Friday to Sunday.
Newcomer “Terminator: Genisys” followed with $44.2 million for the five-day weekend. The Paramount-Skydance film starring Emilia Clarke and Arnold Schwarzenegger needs a strong global performance to make its money back with a reported $155 million price tag.
