Isabela rice millers deliver 14,000 sacks of rice to Metro Manila

(Eagle News) — Isabela rice millers have already delivered at least 14,000 sacks of commercial rice in Metro Manila, according to an official of the National Food Authority (NFA).

NFA Cagayan Valley Regional Director Mario Gonzales said that the sacks of commercial rice from the Isabela Rice Millers Association were already brought to the NFA warehouses.

Gonzales said the move was made to ensure the supply of affordable rice in Metro Manila until the arrival of imported rice which is expected by the end of May.

The 14,000 sacks of rice delivered by the Isabela rice millers were part of the commitment of rice millers in the country to give 100,000 sacks of rice to the NFA to meet the needs of consumers while the government awaits the arrival of their rice importation.

Isabela rice millers have confirmed that cities and towns with low supply of rice have been prioritized to be supplied.

The NFA has imported 250,000-metric-ton rice from Vietnam and Thailand, which would arrive at ports next month through the ports of Manila, Cebu, and Davao. (with a report from PNA)
