(Eagle News) — “Diskarte ‘yan niya.”
President Rodrigo Duterte had this to say amid criticisms of Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre’s treatment of Janet Lim Napoles, who has been provisionally admitted to the Department of Justice’s Witness Protection Program.
According to the President, in general, he leaves the discretion of managing departments to his Cabinet secretaries.
“Hinayaan ko ‘yan sila (Cabinet secretaries),” he said.
Aguirre has defended Napoles’ provisional admission to the program, noting that she has expressed an intent to “tell all” that she knows about the pork barrel scam.
The DOJ is in the process of evaluating Napoles’ recent affidavit, so it could be determined if she was qualified to a full coverage of the WPP.
Aguirre said Napoles could also not be considered the most guilty in the scam, since she has been charged with plunder, a crime targeting unscrupulous government officials, in connection with the same.
This means, Aguirre said, that Napoles was a mere co-conspirator in the case.
