TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur, April 14 (PIA) – The income tax return (ITR) filing has been going smoothly in the entire province, according to Amanoding Esmail, revenue district officer of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) District Office 106 here.
The local BIR chief has bragged about the “electronic ITR filing,” which helped paved the way for more convenience.
Esmail agreed that way back then, approaching the deadline was indeed a misfortune due to last-minute rush.
He likewise mentioned about other means being continually adopted that added ease like “exempting employees from ITR filing particularly those whose income tax due is equal to their tax withheld.”
Esmail also cited the “big lift” brought about by their stepped up drive to remind the taxpaying public of their obligation by seeking the help of “select taxpayers” through hanging of streamers/tarpaulins.
“The ITR filing deadline remains on April 15, 2016,” he stressed, adding that late filers would be slapped with compromise penalty of P1,000 to P25,000 apart from the 25 percent surcharge and 20 percent interest per annum. (NGBT/Greg Tataro Jr., Radyo ng Bayan-Tandag/PIA-Surigao del Sur)
