Japan lifts tsunami warning along northeast coast after quake: govt

TOKYO, Japan (AFP) — The Japanese government on Tuesday lifted its tsunami warning for the northeast coast of the country after a powerful earthquake shook the region earlier in the day.

“The tsunami advisory has been lifted,” the Japan Meteorological Agency said in a statement released at 12:50 pm (0350 GMT) on its website.
