(Eagle News)– Detained former senator Jinggoy Estrada has submitted to the Sandiganbayan a motion for him to be allowed to undergo a medical checkup for his sore right shoulder.
Estrada’s camp pleaded before the anti-graft court’s 5th Division to allow him to be immediately brought to the Cardinal Santos Medical Center, San Juan for examination due to extreme pain in his right shoulder he experienced on May 11.
Attached to his motion is a medical letter from his private physician, who said Estrada has been suffering pains in his shoulder since 2016.
Estrada also cited a 2014 diagnosis that he has calcific tendinitis-adhesive capsulitis or “frozen shoulder” resulting in left shoulder pain for which he was allowed to undergo therapy sessions in November 2014.
Estrada also demanded he may have to undergo surgery if the pain continues.
Last January, the Sandiganbayan allowed Estrada to undergo medical tests because of pain in his left knee.
Estrada was also able to temporarily leave his detention cell on April 19 for the 80th birthday celebration of his father, former president and now Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada.
The former senator will face trial beginning June 19 for his plunder and graft cases stemming from the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) scam.
