(Eagle News)– Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Jesus Dureza confirmed on Monday that National Democratic Front consultant Jose Maria Sison was no longer listed as terrorist by European Union (EU).
However, other members of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF) still hang on the list.
Dureza met with EU representatives in Brussels, Belgiumafter the peace talks in Oslo, Norway.
“Sa EU, they already removed Joma Sison. Only the CPP-NPA-NDF are listed. We did not discuss this in my meeting with them. It is premature yet,” he said in a press briefing.
Dureza also expressed his hopes that the United States would also consider removing the whole CPP-NPA-NDF from their terrorist list.
“Ako, I trust (delisting) will move the peace process forward. I think it has some big progress. They are partners, EU saka US. I think they will concede to probably something good for the Philippines naman,” Dureza stated.
