(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte has named a Budget undersecretary as officer-in-charge of the Department of Budget and Management.
Duterte named Janet Abuel at the helm of the DBM following the appointment of then-Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno as Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas governor.
Diokno replaced Nestor Espenilla, who passed away after fighting tongue cancer, in February.
Diokno will serve Espenilla’s remaining term until 2023.
Abuel, a bar topnotcher, finished her Masters of Public Administration at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy in Singapore.
She also received her Masters in Laws at a university in Australia.
She was the Budget undersecretary of the Local Government and Regional Operations Group prior to being named the DBM OIC.
