Moderate to heavy rainfall expected within 250-km diameter of TD “Urduja”
(Eagle News) — The low pressure area seen east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur has developed into a tropical depression.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said that as of 4 p.m., the center of Tropical Depression “Urduja” was located 480 kilometers east northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.
It is packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 65 kph, and is expected to move north northwest at 6 kph.
According to PAGASA, estimated rainfall amount is from moderate to heavy within the 250-kilometer diameter of the Tropical Depression.
“Fisherfolk and those with small seacrafts are advised not to venture out over the eastern seaboard of Bicol region, of Eastern Visayas and of Caraga due to moderate to rough seas associated with the approaching Tropical Depression,” PAGASA said.
“Urduja” may intensify into a tropical storm within the next 36 hours, PAGASA said.
