(Eagle News) — The mayor of a town in Nueva Ecija died in an ambush on Tuesday, July 3.
A police report said General Tinio Mayor Ferdinand Bote was aboard a Toyota Fortuner, with plate number AAB-2020, when he was shot several times by a gunman at 4:50 p.m.
Footage from a closed-circuit camera in the National Irrigation Authority showed the gunman appearing at the right side of the Fortuner as it was exiting the agency.
The gunman apparently used a short firearm to shoot the vehicle.
Bote was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead.
The incident took place after Tanauan, Batangas Mayor Antonio Halili’s killing.
President Rodrigo Duterte has included Halili in his narco-list.
