UPDATED: PISTON’s George San Mateo arrested; posts P4,000 bail

(Eagle News) — George San Mateo was arrested by authorities on Tuesday, but gained provisional liberty later in the day after he posted bail.

San Mateo was apprehended by police  in front of the Quezon City Hall of Justice before noon.

The Pinagkaisang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operator Nationwide leader was at that time on his way to post a P4000 bail set by the  Quezon City Metropolitan Trial Court Branch 43 that issued the warrant on Tuesday in connection with a transport strike his group held in February.

The transport strike, which left thousands of commuters stranded, was a violation of the Public Service Act, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, which acted as the complainant, said.

San Mateo was taken to the Quezon City Police District Station 10 where he underwent booking procedures.

He later posted bail.
