(Eagle News) — Lt. General Rey Guerrero has been appointed the new chief of staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
Lt. Gen. Eduardo Año, AFP chief of staff who is retiring on Thursday, said in a television interview that Guerrero’s appointment papers were signed by President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday afternoon.
Año said Guerrero, who headed the Eastern Mindanao Command that includes the Davao region, is “one of the most highly qualified officers” for the position.
“He has all qualities to be the next chief of staff,” Año said.
